Cyberpunk 2077 joined a long list of cautionary tales for video game developers. After being hyped for pretty much the past decade, Cyberpunk 2077 was released to much controversy. From being rushed and incomplete to unplayable to the point that Sony and Microsoft had to delist the game from their digital storefronts, Cyberpunk 2077 forced CD Projekt RED and perhaps the entire video game industry to rethink their strategies going forward. CDPR, in particular, had to spend the entire year trying to fix Cyberpunk 2077 and it's still not done yet.
However, now that Cyberpunk 2077 is over a year old, it appears that CDPR's efforts are starting to bear fruit.
A new wave of players are liking Cyberpunk 2077
With Steam selling Cyberpunk 2077 for a huge discount, more players are getting the chance to try it out for the first time, which has resulted in the game getting "very positive" overall reviews on Steam. The overwhelmingly positive response to Cyberpunk 2077 has even prompted a quest director over at CD Projekt RED to express his joy on his Twitter account.
