The Kerbal Space Program was a successful indie title created by Mexican developer Squad and released for early access in 2013. The game's popularity caught the attention of Take-Two, which purchased the studio along with the title in 2017.

Take-Two announced that a sequel to the flight simulation game was to be developed under Intercept Games. The studio was created to develop Kerbal Space Progam 2 in 2020 and will be published by the Private Division.

While Intercept Games was created for the Kerbal Space Program sequel, it will not be the only project that the studio is working on.
