Insider denies that GTA 6 will have three protagonists

Jason Schreier just debunked one of the more prevalent GTA 6 theories.

We don't think that GTA 6 will be just as successful if Rockstar Games shoehorned having three protagonists just for the sake of it anyway.

We know two things about Grand Theft Auto 6: it’s in development and Rockstar Games has pooled most of its resources to work on the game.

Outside of the two things we just mentioned, Rockstar Games hasn’t released more official info about GTA VI. Although if you want to get technical, you can add Strauss Zelnick’s statement in May telling fans to “stay tuned” for more GTA 6 news.

In lieu of the lack of official GTA 6 news, several leakers and insiders have stepped up to the plate.

One popular GTA 6 leak claims that the game will have three protagonists. However, Jason Schreier claims that this isn’t true, adding that “the game is in development and many details are still in flux or not decided yet.

GTA 5 is the second-best-selling video game in history for a lot of reasons. One such reason is its three-character system. Trevor, Michael, and Franklin are some of the best GTA protagonists ever, as Rockstar Games used the ragtag bunch to tell a narrative-driven story that all culminates in three different endings.

You can’t blame Rockstar if it thinks that going back to the same formula will help GTA 6 sell as well as GTA 5. But, as Schreier explains, most of the details about GTA 6 are still “in flux.”

The most interesting part is that trusted industry insiders haven’t denounced our previous report about GTA 6’s story featuring twin siblings on the opposite sides of the law or that Rockstar wants GTA 6’s game engine to compete directly with Unreal Engine 5.

We’re not claiming anything, but you know what they say about whenever a shoe fits, right?

GTA 6 is better off trying to be its own game than copying what made GTA 5 successful.

At the end of the day, GTA 6 is still at least a few years away from coming out. Things can and will still change this early into GTA VI’s development, so some leaks that might initially be true could turn out to be false once the game comes out.

In the meantime, you can check out these games while waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6.
