How to Catch Cobalion in Pokémon GO

Power-up your counters as much as you can before the battle and make sure that they're in pristine condition. If there's one type of Pokemon you want to avoid it all costs, it's Fairy type as they're susceptible to Cobalion's attack, and they'll faint before you blink.

Weather Boos

t: Cobalion is boosted by Snow and Cloudy weather. If you go head-on against him in the weather conditions that favour him, your loss is almost guaranteed. Our advice? Just save your raid pass until a sunny day. However, if you're living in an area where a sunny day is a rare sight, fill-up your counter roster with fighting-style Pokemon. Machamp becomes the optimal attacker in such conditions, while Charizard suffers from the weather.

Gym

: If your team owns the Gym, you'll get more premier balls out of the battle, which increases your chances of catching a Pokemon. It's impossible to know which Pokemon will spawn in a raid battle, so the best bet if for your team to control as many gyms as possible and raiding the gyms that your team own.

Friends

: There are two considerations you need to make while choosing friends for a Cobalion raid.

Catch Rates of CobalionLike any other Legendary Pokemon, catching Cobalion is a tricky business. In fact, the base rate of catching a Cobalion is just a meagre 2.17%. Here's a nifty chart illustrating all the berries, throws and how they affect the catch rate of Cobalion

In order to maximise your catch rate per ball, you should feed him a Golden Razzberry and aim for an excellent shot. If you meet these two conditions, you can increase your catch rate to as much 15.85% per ball.

As a side note, you shouldn't use the normal Pinap berry as it's the only berry that does not come with any catch rate bonus. A Razz Berry has a 1.5x catch rate bonus, a silver Pinap Berry has 1.8x catch rate bonus and the all-mighty Golden Razzberry has a 2.5x catch rate bonus. How Many Players Do You Need? A party of at least 2-4 people is required when you're standing against the legendary Cobalion in a raid battle. However, this number depends on the level of your team's roster. If you've got high-level Pokemon, you may not need so many people. But if you have not got the best fighting or fire types ready for the raid, then a bigger party is recommended.
