Forza Motorsport is revving its engines, ready to make a grand entrance after a six-year hiatus. While fans are eagerly awaiting the game’s release, there’s one thing they might not be prepared for: the game’s massive installation size.
Turn 10 Studios, the brains behind this epic racer, recently dropped some tantalizing gameplay footage, showcasing the game’s hyper-realistic tracks, cars, and racing dynamics. From the Maple Valley track in the U.S. to the endurance race in Hakone, Japan, the attention to detail is nothing short of breathtaking.
Still, such beauty comes at a hefty price for your console’s storage, as you will need at least 130GB of disk space. Fortunately, the Xbox Series X and S offer 1TB editions, ensuring you have ample storage, and if that’s not enough, you also have the option to boost your storage with a 2TB expansion card for either console.
Though we’ve become accustomed to games gobbling up substantial storage, Forza Motorsport is truly in a league of its own. In stark comparison to its predecessor, Forza Motorsport 7, the forthcoming installment will demand an additional 30GB or more of your precious storage space.
However, if we consider what we’ve seen so far, with the game replicating real-life tracks like the Suzuka Circuit in Japan and the Kyalami Grand Prix, not to mention the authentic sounds and appearances of the featured vehicles, it’s clear that no compromises were made in its development.
In addition to all these features, Turn 10 Studios recently unveiled three new multiplayer modes: Featured Multiplayer, Private Multiplayer, and Rivals. Featured Multiplayer delivers an authentic race weekend experience, featuring events that sync with real-world time.
With Private Multiplayer, you can take the driver’s seat as the host, inviting your friends to race without the burden of ratings. For those who crave intense competition, the Rivals mode focuses on achieving the best lap times, offering a thrilling challenge for all racing enthusiasts.
Sadly, some features from previous titles have been left in the pit stop, such as split-screen multiplayer, the absence of a spectator mode, and AI racers in multiplayer. Turn 10 Studios’ focus on improving the graphics of Forza Motorsport meant some controversial sacrifices had to be made, but the studio seems confident in its vision for the game, and so should we.
Forza Motorsport is set to release on October 10 for Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. You can pre-order it now, and if you go for the Premium Edition or Premium Add-Ons Bundle, you’ll get up to five days of early access.
