Hogwarts Legacy 2 is rumored to be in development

2023 is shaping up to be one of the best years so far for the gaming industry. Baldur's Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo 4, and Starfield are just some of the highly-anticipated titles that came out. The streak of blockbuster releases continues next month with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2. However, it was Hogwarts Legacy that set the pace for the year with its record-breaking sales numbers.

Hogwarts Legacy is also looking to add to its impressive sales numbers with the release of the Nintendo Switch version in November. Avalanche Software opted to delay the handheld version of the game to give players "the best possible experience."

Players on PC and consoles are now hoping that the studio will add more content with expansions and DLCs. However, it seems that Avalanche Software is aiming higher with a sequel. There is still the possibility of DLCs coming to the game as a sequel will take several years. A premium DLC would make much sense in the short-term considering how many copies of the game have been sold.

On September 1, Harry Potter fans celebrated Back to Hogwarts Day with official and unofficial events. The Hogwarts Legacy team released a teaser for a behind-the-scenes featurette for the game. The sneak peek gives fans an idea of what to expect with the bonus content that is coming later this year.

"Designed to be the ultimate love letter to fans worldwide, #HogwartsLegacy welcomes you home," the post reads. "Take a peek behind the scenes at what went into the creation of the game later this year."

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, and is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 14, 2023.
