Watch out Automatons and Terminids across the universe, democracy is getting some much-needed reinforcements as Arrowhead Game Studios just increased Helldivers 2's server cap to allow up to 800,000 concurrent users.
But while this is a cause for some much-needed optimism, recent history suggests that the fight for liberty will draw yet another server-breaking crowd over the next few days. Nevertheless, the studio's CEO seem proud of the work they've put in lately, especially given the studio's size.
"We expect the @helldivers2 servers to hit the 800,000 CCU max capacity," Arrowhead CEO and game director Johan Pielstedt revealed on X. "There might be light queues to get in at peak," adds Pilestedt before giving his team a much-needed pat in the back.
While Pilestedt never fully revealed the initial numbers, it's believed that Helldivers 2 launched with an initial server capacity of less than 100,000, which has been gradually increased over time. As player demands continued to rise, players could do nothing but wait in line. According to Pilestedt, this isn't a problem that can be so easily solved by simply paying for more server capacity.
