HBO releases trailer for Succession season four

Succession chronicles wealthy patriarch Logan Roy and his family – the owners of media and entertainment conglomerate, Waystar Royco – in their battle for who controls the company.

For the upcoming fourth season, the official logline reads, "The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed."

Succession is a black comedy-drama television series that debuted in June 2018. The show has enjoyed incredible success on multiple fronts, including mostly positive critics' approval ratings, a dedicated fan base, and numerous awards – 13 Primetime Emmy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, five Critics' Choice Television Awards, two Producers Guild of America Awards, and four Writers Guild of America Awards, among others.

The show's cast members include Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Alan Ruck, Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, Hiam Abbas, Peter Friedman, and Natalie Gold. They play Roy, Kendall Roy, Roman Roy, Siobhan Shiv Roy, Connor Roy, Tom Wambsgans, Greg Hirsch, Marcia Roy, Frank Vernon, and Rava Roy respectively.

The Emmy Award-winning show was created by Jesse Armstrong, who doubles as executive producer alongside Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, and Mark Mylod, among others.

The trailer's release follows Armstrong's recent interview with the New Yorker where he revealed the forthcoming fourth season is the show's final installment. During the interview, he stated that he had never been under the impression that the show will go on indefinitely. He revealed that the show's end had always been present in his mind and that he chose the option of going out strong and telling a complete story as opposed to turning it into a mediocre show.

By the way, fans of Succession might be interested to know that Ryan Condal, House of the Dragon showrunner, believes his show is a fantasy version of Succession.

Succession season four will debut on HBO on March 26. In the meantime, fans can revisit seasons one to three on HBO Max.
