WarnerMedia first announced The Sisterhood back in mid-2019 as a spin-off to Dune. The show would act as a prequel and put the spotlight on the all-female organization, Bene Gesserit. Unfortunately, updates on the show have been far and few in between to the point that most probably has forgotten about it by now. But, with Denis Villeneuve's Dune pulling in historic numbers for Warner Bros., it appears that the spin-off is finally moving forward.

Don't just take our word for it though.

Villeneuve recently confirmed the status of The Sisterhood with Deadline, explaining that he's not overseeing the HBO Max series. Denis currently has his hands full working on the future of the Dune cinematic universe, specifically, Part Two. Warner Bros. confirmed the second half of the 2021 live-action adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel of the same name just days after the premiere of the first film. With the script for Dune: Part Two already finished, it appears that Denis is on track to start production in July and release the sequel by October 20, 2023.
