HBO Max is moving forward with Dune prequel spin-off show

Villeneuve's confirmation is good news on top of Jon Spaiths' recent comments that the project is still alive and well. Most fans doubted Spaihts' words since he'd already left The Sisterhood as its showrunner halfway through 2021, with The Haunting of Bly Manor's Diane Ademu-John taking his place.

What's perhaps more interesting here is Denis' involvement with The Sisterhood, or the lack thereof. For a while, most were under the impression that Denis would direct the pilot, possibly to make the spin-off easier to tie into the events of the films. However, his positive endorsement suggests that all is going well, and fans will only have to wait for more news, perhaps later this year.

Unfortunately, there's still no information about what the plot for The Sisterhood is going to be now that Dune is effectively a movie franchise. More importantly, we remain in the dark about a potential release date for The Sisterhood.

If The Sisterhood is still in development after Villeneuve is finished working on Dune: Part Two, the director might help further things along. The prequel could then help tide audiences over before he comes back to do another Dune sequel that could be based on Herbert's next novel in the series, Dune Messiah. All of this is to say that Dune: The Sisterhood will not be here for a long time.
