2K Games subsidiary, Hangar 13, the studio behind Mafia III and Mafia: Definitive Edition, has announced that a new Mafia game is in development, although it will not be ready for a few years.

Hangar 13 Announces The Development Of A New Mafia Game

Here's what general manager, Roman Hladík, had to say: I'm happy to confirm we've started work on an all-new Mafia project! While it's a few years away and we can't share anything more right now, we're really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories. Hangar 13 is reportedly sitting on multiple Mafia projects as well as new Top Spin entries.

The Mafia game series is set in fictionalized versions of American cities from the 1930s in the first game to the 1960s in the most recent installment. It has an open-world design and focuses on realism. Furthermore, the Mafia games are critical darlings with good sales. But, the studio did not offer any more detail about the upcoming new Mafia game.
