If Warner Bros. Discovery ever decides to make a sequel series of films to Harry Potter with some, if not most, of the original cast in tow, they’ll have to do it without the beloved actor, Robbie Coltrane.
Coltrane is the man behind everybody’s favorite Hogwarts groundskeeper, Rubeus Hagrid. Coltrane played the role for a decade, starting with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, until the final film in the original series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which came out in 2011. Coltrane most recently appeared with the rest of the original cast earlier this year in Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts Reunion Special.
The unfortunate news was confirmed earlier today, but the family hasn’t shared details surrounding his untimely demise with the public.
In addition to his time in the Harry Potter franchise, Coltrane also starred in two James Bond films, 1995’s GoldenEye and 1999’s The World Is Not Enough.
Coltrane leaves behind two children.
Our prayers and wishes are with the bereaved at this very somber time.
