Video game film adaptations are a bit of a hit or miss, with more misses than hits. However, when they're good, the achievement is widely celebrated and studios are often very quick to release sequels. Either that or the people behind a successful video game movie adaptation are hired to work on another project based on a video game.

After a successful debut with 2021's Mortal Kombat film, Russo just teased that he is working on a film adaptation of "one of the greatest FPS games of all time.

Greg Russo is relatively fresh in the movie industry and his first project was a massive hit. Although it didn't exactly make the same numbers as Black Widow, the film did earn an estimated $83.6 million with a budget of around $55 million. Because of its success, a sequel featuring Johnny Cage, among other iconic Mortal Kombat characters, is reportedly already in development.
