After several delays, Godzilla vs. Kong finally premiered right in the middle of the worst part of the COVID-19 pandemic, en route to becoming the most pirated movie of 2021 and pulling a global box office take of $468.2 million, which was the highest at the time. The film is a culmination of all the previous films in the MonsterVerse, starting with 2014's Godzilla followed by 2017's Kong: Skull Island, and 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Given the film's success despite the lockdowns, it was only natural that it would get a sequel. Although Warner Bros. is yet to confirm if this is the case, it appears that the fifth installment in Legendary Entertainment's cinematic universe is already in the works.

According to a Deadline report, Godzilla vs. Kong will start filming in Queensland, Australia, later this year. Unfortunately, the same report contained very little information about who will direct and star in the upcoming film.

Godzilla Vs. Kong Sequel Will Start Filming In Australia Later This Year

Godzilla vs. Kong was well-loved among critics and audiences alike and for a good reason - it delivered on its premise.
