Fans already knew better than to expect the highly anticipated God of War sequel to be released in 2021. So, when Sony officially confirmed that the follow-up to Kratos’ romp through Norse mythology was going to be delayed to 2022, nobody was surprised. Since then, the question on everybody’s minds has been when the game will be released this year.
If it’s any consolation, Sony did give God of War fans something to chew on for a while. After giving the sequel a name and a trailer at last year’s State of Play event, Sony released God of War to the PC, much to the delight of fans. Still, gamers can’t help but wonder if God of War: Ragnarok will be delayed for the second year in a row. But, if the recent reports are to go by, Kratos’ eventual showdown with Thor and team-up with Tyr won’t be delayed at all – it will be here within the next four months.
According to a small-time regional retailer in Chile, God of War: Ragnarok will be out in June albeit with no specific date outside of the release month.

Of course, you’ll want to take this information with a grain of salt. Even bigger retailers like Amazon make mistakes, so this information might not be accurate. Not to mention, the release window could have just been a placeholder and not necessarily God of War: Ragnarok’s actual launch date. Finally, the retailer could very well have just been making things up to get views and clicks. Either way, this is the only lead that we have to go on at the moment as far as God of War: Ragnarok releasing in June goes.
However, a June release date for God of War: Ragnarok does somewhat line up with the recent rumors.
Following the GT7-centered State of Play event earlier this month, we’ve seen several trusted insiders claim that Sony is gearing up for a bigger showcase in March. Although the upcoming Harry Potter open-world RPG, Hogwarts Legacy, has been thrown around as one of the biggest draws of the unannounced State of Play, some are also saying that Sony will reveal God of War: Ragnarok’s release date by then. But, there’s also the “more trustworthy” intel claiming that the Kratos’ next outing isn’t until September.
The silver lining here is that different industry insiders are all saying that God of War: Ragnarok will be released this year.
