Ghostrunner 2 is coming to PC and consoles in October

The upcoming cyberpunk action game is joining the crowded October release slate.

Ghostrunner 2 is now available for pre-order.

There are a number of great games releasing in the coming months, with October in particular getting pretty heavy on game launches with the addition of Ghostrunner 2. Publisher 505 Games and developer One More Level recently announced that the Ghostrunner sequel is coming to PC and consoles on October 26.

The PC release is coming to both Steam and GOG, and accompanying the announcement, 505 Games released a new trailer for the upcoming first-person platformer. Several versions of Ghostrunner 2 are now available for pre-order – the base game costs $39.99 and will include two sword skins and two hand skins as pre-order bonuses.

The Deluxe Edition is priced at $49.99 and includes everything that comes with the base game, in addition to four hand skins, four sword skins, and a personalized hand hologram displaying your current username.

The Brutal Edition will set gamers back $69.99 and will include everything featured in the Deluxe Edition. The bundle gives players 48 hours of early access to the game and includes the Season Pass, which is priced at $19.99 when purchased separately.

Said Season Pass features a new game mode, four asset packs, animated sword and hand skins, and a motorcycle skin. Gamers planning on pre-ordering Ghostrunner 2 can get a 20% discount on the Steam version when purchased via the Fanatical storefront.

505 Games may have timed the release of Ghostrunner 2 poorly. While it is one of the highly anticipated titles coming this year, it is joining a rather crowded slate that features some pretty big games.

September kicks off with the release of Starfield and will be followed by Mortal Kombat 1, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Lies of P. Starfield has gotten the most attention as it has been hyped as Bethesda’s biggest release ever.

October is set to be an even busier month with Detective Pikachu Returns, Forza Motorsport, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage releasing in the first half. Things will really heat up when Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder arrive on October 20. Alan Wake 2 caps off the month when it drops a day after the release of Ghostrunner 2.

The release of Ghostrunner 2 may have been poorly timed as it is launching in the same week as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Alan Wake 2.

To make things worse for Ghostrunner 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 arrives on November 10. The latest installment to the blockbuster first-person shooter series sees the return of the zombies mode which will surely attract a lot of gamers.

The extremely loaded slate does not bode well for a smaller title like Ghostrunner 2. Being released just a week after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and a day before Alan Wake 2 may prove disastrous for the upcoming action-platformer. We expect the initial sales numbers for Ghostrunner 2 to be low given that gamers traditionally go for AAA games. Hopefully, the game gets some attention in the long run.
