Gal Gadot's time in DC has officially ended. She now joins the list of Justice League actors Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck not returning to the franchise.

While James Gunn vehemently denies firing Gadot from DC, she is effectively out after the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3. One of the first moves that Gunn and Peter Safran made after their appointment as DC Studios co-CEOs was to shelve Wonder Woman 3 "in its current state."

With the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3, the actor said that she feels empowered to no longer be attached to the DC Studios heroine. In a recent interview for her upcoming Netflix movie Heart of Stone, Gadot said that it felt liberating to be able to work on other projects.

"To me, starting and developing stories that I'm passionate about is an incredible thing," Gadot said in an interview with Total Film. "The fact that I don't have to sit still at home and just wait for the next offer is something that makes me feel empowered. I enjoy doing it, it keeps me alive."
