Futurama just released its first new season in ten years. Not only is the adult animated series returning to TV, but it’ll be in a popular video game as well, namely, Fortnite.
Epic Games’ hit battle royale’s latest crossover is with Futurama, which arrived as part of the game’s most recent update. It teased the collaboration with the acclaimed adult animated comedy series with an announcement trailer.
The trailer shows Bender, Fry, and Leela crashing into the Fortnite battlefield in Update V25.20. The new character skins are available for purchase at the Item Shop.
The Bender Bending Rodriguez Outfit includes the Universe 1 Bender alt Style, featuring the Ben Rodriguez Black Bling and the Unbendable Girder Pickaxe.
On the other hand, the Philip J. Fry Outfit has the Universe 1 Fry alternate style and Hypontoad Back Bling. Players can use the Giant Nutcracker Pickaxe to harvest resources.
Completing the trio is the Turanga Leela Outfit with the Universe 1 Leela alt style. The skin also has the Nibbler Back Bling and the Solid Gold Fiddle Pickaxe.
Completing the Futurama look are the Planet Express Ship Glider and the Zoidberg Scuttle Emote. The accessories can also be found in the Item Shop.
Players can find Bender’s Shiny Metal Raygun in battle as well, either on the ground or wielded by Bender himself. It fires an infinite supply of plasma blasts. While you get unlimited ammo with the gun, it does overheat and will need to cool down after being fired too much.
Futurama released its eighth season last July 24 after Hulu confirmed the series’ revival following a decade-long hiatus. The original voice cast for the animated series is returning for the latest season.
This is the second time Futurama is being brought back since the animated show first aired in 1999. The series premiered on Fox before moving to Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The show was then picked up by Comedy Central for Seasons 5 to 7.
Season 8 picks up where the previous season left off ten years ago. The synopsis for the latest season reads:
