Hulu has announced that it commissioned a total of 20 episodes back in February. There's some confusion among viewers about the number of Seasons for the show, specifically whether or not it will be Season 8 or Season 11.
This will be the second time that the show will be brought back since Futurama first aired in 1999. The animated series had a run of four seasons on Fox before being canceled. Cartoon Network picked up the show as part of its Adult Swim lineup before being acquired by Comedy Central.
Four direct-to-video films for Futurama were produced and later re-edited by Comedy Central as Season 5. The network would broadcast two more seasons of the animated series consisting of 26 episodes each. Comedy Central canceled the show after the seventh season with the last episode airing on September 4, 2013.
