Horror fans have long considered The Purge franchise a staple of the genre. The recent update, straight from Frank Grillo regarding the upcoming sequel has given them ample reason to be excited.

, the 57-year-old actor, who became part of the franchise through 2013's The Purge: Anarchy, disclosed that James DeMonaco has already written a script for The Purge 6, which will revolve around his character, Leo Barnes. However, this could mark the final installment of the franchise, as the sixth movie is anticipated to be its concluding chapter.

(James DeMonaco's) got the script, man. The script has been written, he submitted it to Universal. Went to (Jason) Blum, Michael Bay. There's a lot of cooks in the kitchen. But it's Leo Barnes centric. It's about Leo Barnes and it's really was the Swan Song for the series. I know they've said that before, but James only directed one, two, and three. The last movie he directed was "Election Year" and he's only been involved as a producer going forward from there, but he wants to direct this.
