Of course, Paramount isn't taking any chances.

In a final attempt to drum up as much excitement and hype for the film as possible, the third and final trailer for Snake Eyes is arguably its best yet. The 105-second clip contains just the right amount of ninja-specific action as opposed to focusing on how the film relates to the G.I. Joe franchise.

Not that it should just forget how it could potentially be the start of a new franchise, what with everyone's fascination for cinematic universe connections these days. Will Snake Eyes kickstart a new G.I. Joe movie series? The success of Snake Eyes could lead to a new movie franchise for Paramount Pictures.

As we've already mentioned, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins will serve as the reboot of the G.I. Joe movie series and Paramount was smart to choose arguably the most popular character in the series as its starting point.

Having said that, it remains unknown if Paramount has plans for future installments after this.

The first two movies were mild successes at a time when people went to theaters just because they could. 2009's The Rise of Cobra, starring Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans, made $300 million on a $175 million budget.

Meanwhile, 2013's Retaliation did a bit better by pulling in $375 million on a $130 million budget. However, neither one of them was considered a must-watch. Not even the draw that is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (at least, for the sequel) can change that.

It stands to reason that Snake Eyes probably won't do as well as the previous G.I. Joe outings given the current situation, but who knows? A relatively slim competition with a bankable lead character could work well towards Snake Eyes' favor.

If Space Jam: A New Legacy can pull in $31.65 million in its domestic debut, there's no reason to believe that Snake Eyes will do worse.
