Epic Mickey is making a triumphant return over a decade after it first came out on the Nintendo Wii,
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed was part of announcements at the first Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase of the year, revealing that the game is launching on the Nintendo Switch later this year. The remake promises a faithful recreation of the 2010 classic, bringing Mickey Mouse’s adventure in Wasteland, a world inspired by Disney’s classic stories, to a new generation of gamers as well as fans of the original game.
Epic Mickey was originally launched as a Nintendo Wii exclusive and was well-received for its engaging story, captivating characters, and unique gameplay mechanics, despite facing criticisms for its controls and camera issues

Later on, it was revealed that Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is not only coming to the Nintendo Switch but will also be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Developed by Purple Lamp, in collaboration with Disney Games and published by THQ Nordic, this enhanced remake features state-of-the-art visuals, improved controls, and new movement capabilities for Mickey.
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will feature all the original game’s beloved elements, along with enhancements that take advantage of modern hardware capabilities. Players can expect an action-adventure 3D platformer experience enriched with a visually upgraded setting and a set of gameplay improvements designed to smooth out the original game’s rough edges.
The announcement of Epic Mickey: Rebrushed has reignited hopes for the revival of the Epic Mickey series, which was initially planned as a trilogy but saw its potential cut short after the release of its sequel, Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.
With the closure of Junction Point Studios, the original game’s developer, the future of the series seemed uncertain until now.
This remake is part of Disney’s growing involvement in gaming, with recent investments in Epic Games and the launch of other Disney-themed games. Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is part of this broader strategy to leverage Disney’s rich catalog of characters and stories in the gaming world, offering both nostalgia to long-time fans and an introduction to new players.
