We are definitely in the darkest DCEU timeline. For some reason, Batgirl gets canceled while The Flash is still set to screen. To make matters worse, Warner Bros. Discovery has delayed both Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. It's as if the DCEU saw all the comments that ditching Zack Snyder was the worst decision ever and decided to say, "hold my beer."

Canceling the $90 million Batgirl movie hurts the most. The upcoming HBO Max movie was already headed towards post-production. It was as close to a finished product as a film can get. It even screen-tested fine, getting scores similar to Black Adam. So, it's still surprising that it didn't see the light of the day. The worst thing that could have happened is it would have forced Warner Bros. Discovery to find a way to excuse its events, which shouldn't be too hard when you've got a superhero that can literally change entire timelines in The Flash, among others.

Having said that, the cast and crew behind Batgirl aren't the sort to cry over spilled milk. In honor of their canceled project, the people who worked on Batgirl are holding "funeral screenings" at the Warner Bros. Lot.
