Epic Games might like you to believe that Steam’s policies don’t have everybody’s best interests in mind, but you can’t deny that its seasonal sales are a boon to mankind.

Valve’s digital games distribution platform currently has a Winter Sale underway, putting hundreds if not thousands of games available at a massive discount through January 4, 2024. Now that you’ve got a lot of time on your hands to play and clear your backlog, this is arguably the best time to add more.

While the selection of sales available at a massive discount should satisfy gamers of all preferences, Soulslike lovers are especially lucky as some of the genre’s biggest and best games are available for cheap, starting with Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is expected to get at least one more DLC.

The reigning most GOTY’d video game ever is currently available for £30/$36. It’s a significant price cut from its original $59.99 price tag, with nearly $20 in savings. It’s not the lowest price for the genre’s frontrunner ever but it’s close. If this is your first time dipping into the Soulslike ocean, Steam has you covered.

Aside from Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is literally half off during the sale at £25/$30. Neither game are the kindest to beginners, but, at the very least, they’re more welcoming, both in terms of lore and gameplay, compared to, let’s say, the OG Dark Souls games.

Unfortunately, we still have no clue when Elden Ring’s upcoming DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, will be available to play.

The last we heard is that the DLC’s development is going rather well and it’s expected to bring a ton of new content to the base game, which is saying a lot. If we’re lucky, Shadow of the Erdtree will be as large as FromSoftware’s other expansions, particularly Bloodborne’s lone DLC, The Old Hunters.

Between Armored Core and Elden Ring, FromSoftware likely won't have any time to work on anything else in between.

Speaking of FromSoftware, the company is hunkering down and working on several new projects following the success of both Elden Ring and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
