It's official - EA Sports FC is coming out in July

Our new brand identity is inspired by the triangles that have been part of EA SPORTS football for the past 30 years, from the isometric polygons that make up our game to the chemistry triangles that exist in Ultimate Team™ to the player indicator across every match. Unfortunately, Electronic Arts is saving the meat of the reveal (as it should) until July. But, it's clear that the company wants to remind fans that it's the one behind the past "30 years" and that EA Sports FC is a continuation of the decades-old video game franchise - not a new game.

Of course, the fact that EA is making this a huge part of its branding implies that it's aware that it will cause confusion.

As one of the best-selling video game franchises annually, the switch from FIFA to EA Sports FC will take a while to get used to, especially once FIFA starts working on a football game of its own with a new partner.

If EA sticks to its word, we can expect to see the first EA Sports FC hit the shelves sometime between August and October.
