Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves featurette shows off classic creatures

We have already seen the owlbear which Sophia Lillis as the Tiefling druid Doric

transforms into

. However, as Chris Pine puts it, owlbears are not exactly cuddly:

A mash-up that pairs all of the terror… with none of the cute of owls and bears.

The next creature shown is the Mimic. Although it has also been shown in previous teasers and trailers for the movie, Michelle Rodriguez specifically mentions that it is a monster "that can pose as anything".

Following that is the Gelatinous Cube. Although it is mentioned that the creature is "disarming", it goes beyond that. Many adventurers in D&D have learned too late that while it is slow, the creature can paralyze and consume any living thing it comes in contact with.

Then, the clip shows the menacing Displacer Beast. More than just a panther-like natural hunter with additional limbs, the Displacer Beast can move extremely fast, while also being able to create illusions that fools its prey as to where it is actually standing. This gives the creature an advantage in avoiding attacks and flanking its targets.

Another creature featured in the clip is the Intellect Devourer. Pretty much a brain with four legs, it is extremely dangerous to sentient beings. Intellect Devourers are attracted to intelligent creatures and attempt to eat their prey's own brains. However, it seems the party of Edgin (Chris Pine) does not have enough collective intelligence to whet the appetite of these creatures.

Finally, the featurette showcases the red dragon Themberchaud. Called the "Wyrmsmith of Gracklstugh", Themberchaud provides the flames used in the city's massive forges. The Duergar are gray dwarves who reside in this city located in the Underdark. They compensate Themberchaud's service with treasure for the red dragon's hoard. While these details are not mentioned in the clip, it does mention that Themberchaud is rather overweight, looking like he ate other dragons to get that big.

According to sources, Wizards of the Coast and parent company Hasbro are betting big on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves to be a smash hit at the box office. While there are still D&D fans calling to boycott the movie after the OGL 1.1 and OGL 1.2 controversies, it does look like the film will be a fun fantasy adventure.

A charming thief and a band of unlikely adventurers undertake an epic heist to retrieve a lost relic, but things go dangerously awry when they run afoul of the wrong people. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves brings the rich world and playful spirit of the legendary roleplaying game to the big screen in a hilarious and action-packed adventure.
