Dominik Mysterio seen as a superstar heel by the WWE

Rey Mysterio's days in the WWE are numbered but he can rest easy knowing his son, Dominik Mysterio, will enjoy a similarly illustrious career.

Dominik Mysterio's work as a heel paints a bright future in the WWE for the young superstar.

Rey Mysterio had an eventful WrestleMania week, accepting the challenge to go up against his son, Dominik Mysterio, at WrestleMania 39, and giving him a beating that he’ll likely never forget.

And, oh, did we mention that he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as well? But, while the 619 wrestler has almost always been billed as a babyface – his only heel turn was with Eddie Guerrero and Billy Kidman when they formed the Filthy Animals at WCW – the WWE sees a different future for his son.

Dave Meltzer revealed in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that WWE management sees Dominik Mysterio as a superstar heel. More importantly, Meltzer hints that more father-and-son bouts are on the cards as well.

Dominik Mysterio literally grew up in wrestling. He was involved in one of the more controversial WWE storylines from the 2000s when Eddie Guerrero turned heel and suggested that he was the father of Dominik. The 25-year-old third-generation wrestler even played at this angle in his recent heel turn, which most believed had already culminated at WrestleMania 39. However, judging from the events between the start and the end of the match, something tells us that Meltzer is onto something.

Bad Bunny effectively confirmed that he’ll be involved during WrestleMania 39, which was furthered at the RAW after WrestleMania after an altercation between Dominik, accompanied by Damian Priest, and the international superstar, following Austin Theory’s win over Rey Mysterio.

Maybe this will happen at Backlash on May 6 or maybe it will be set for later. Regardless, Dominik proved he’s a lot more than just Rey Mysterio’s son with his character work since August.

Bad Bunny will likely team up with Rey Mysterio against Dominik Mysterio soon.

A year after partnering with his legendary dad at WrestleMania 38, Dominik performed to if not exceeded the expectations of someone who’d literally learned the ropes from the best folks in the business. Dominik should only continue thriving moving forward, and health willing, he’ll be one of the WWE’s top stars long after his father finally hangs up his mask.

Speaking of this year’s RAW after WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar just set up a feud with Cody Rhodes after he dismantled The American Nightmare before the start of what was supposed to be the night’s main event.
