Rey Mysterio accepts WrestleMania 39 against Dominik Mysterio

It's a heartbreaking family affair at the Show of Shows after Rey Mysterio punched Dominik during the March 24 Episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

If you're an anime fan, you're probably familiar with the now-iconic scene of Vegeta going berserk on Beerus in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods.

Dominik Mysterio's disrespectful outburst was the incident that finally pushed Rey Mysterio past his limits.

For context, Vegeta is a prideful battle-tested warrior who uncharacteristically humbled himself after Lord Beerus, a God of Destruction who could literally destroy planets with a sneeze, pays Earth a visit. He grants all of Beerus' requests in hopes of getting on his good graces.

But, Beerus starts attacking, crashing a literal party and slaps Vegeta's wife, Bulma. In a fit of rage, Vegeta throws hands at the one being he knows he can't even measure up to on his best day.

It's an awesome moment that shows just what someone can do when they're pushed beyond their limits.

We can only imagine this is what Rey Mysterio must have felt on the March 24 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

His son, Dominik Mysterio, has officially turned heel and spent the last few months antagonizing his legendary father, who, by the way, is going to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame before WrestleMania 39. However, despite all his villainous efforts, his masked father never gave in to his emotions and resisted fighting back against his son. At least, until this unfortunate sequence of events below happened:

Rey laid the law on his son and fathered him after showing a level if disrespect that will make audiences hate the antagonistic Dominik Mysterio even more.

Then, once this was all over, Rey Mysterio picked up the microphone and said, "I'll see you at WrestleMania, son."

And, just like that, Rey Mysterio will wrestle against his son, Dominik, just a year after they teamed up against Logan Paul and The Miz at WrestleMania 38.

Rey Mysterio has hinted at this very matchup several times before in past interviews.

It is unclear how long the WWE will stretch the father-and-son feud or if Rey will take the bump and use the upcoming match to put his son over. We've heard the legendary luchador say before that he'd love to have a "WrestleMania moment" with his son again before he hangs up his mask and the upcoming matchup certainly screams retirement match.

Only time will tell if Rey Mysterio will officially retire after WrestleMania 39 but, one thing is sure, fans at the SoFi Stadium in April are in for a treat.

Kudos to the Mysterio family for playing their roles in this storyline very well.

Speaking of WrestleMania 39, the likelihood of Stone Cold being part of this year's Showcase of the Immortals has become more unlikely. The WWE still hasn't confirmed who Bobby Lashley will face in Los Angeles as well.
