After announcing Diablo Immortal in late 2018, fans couldn't help but criticize Blizzard's decision. At the time, Diablo 3 was six years old and at least 4 years had passed since the 2012 title's last big expansion. All fans wanted (and still want) was Diablo 4, and Diablo Immortal was nothing more than just an unnecessary stopgap and a quick cash-grab. To make matters worse, Blizzard had billed Diablo Immortal as the franchise's first game specifically designed for mobile phones.

Nearly four years later and public opinion on Diablo Immortal still hasn't changed. The good news is that Diablo Immortal finally has a release date for iOS, Android, and PC.

Yes. You read that right. The action RPG franchise's first mobile game is also coming to the PC.

According to Blizzard, Diablo Immortal is coming out on June 2 and will feature both cross-play and cross-progression on all platforms at launch. The free-to-play MMORPG will also support controllers and keyboards on the PC. The supposedly mobile-only Diablo game will explore a relatively blank period following the events of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction and Diablo 3. Blizzard confirms that Immortal is online-only and will have live-service elements that the studio describes as a "living, breathing, and constantly evolving experience."
