Diablo 4 players are asking for an "item lock" feature

"As you know, D4 places a strong emphasis on obtaining best-in-slot (BIS) items," the user wrote. "While this aspect of the game is exciting and rewarding, the current system lacks an option to lock items, which has led to instances where players have accidentally sold or salvaged their valuable items, although you can buy it back after selling it, but you can't get it back after salvaging it."

The user adds, "To address this issue, I would like to suggest the implementation of an item lock feature, similar to the one in Destiny 2. This would allow players to mark certain items they want to keep as locked, preventing them from being accidentally sold or salvaged."

The requested quality-of-life feature will work opposite the "mark as junk" option already in the game. According to the user, locking an item will add an extra layer of security for those rare drops that are in a player's inventory.

This is one very valid suggestion, as most endgame players bring specific items that they can swap with the ones they have equipped when a situation arises. Some players bring items specifically for single targets such as the open-world bosses or even when taking on the infamous Butcher which can randomly spawn in any dungeon.

Looking through the Diablo 4 subreddit, this isn't the first time that the feature has been requested. There is a post from the open beta suggesting the same feature. The fandom is clearly united in the desire for this, or a similar feature, being implemented in the title.

Blizzard has yet to respond to the request. Hopefully, the feature will be implemented as early as Season 1. Diablo 4 has been wildly successful, becoming Blizzard's fastest-selling title ever. The game has sold over $666 million in just its first week.
