Demented Echos Locations & "Restful Spirit" Challenge Guide For Outbreak Mode (Cold War Zombies)

The Outbreak zombies mode is not short of easter eggs and objectives. While the main and side objectives are clearly indicated on the map, some "secret" side easter eggs require equal amounts of work and luck to complete, thanks to the RNG (random number generation) involved.

One such side easter egg is the Demented Echos zombies easter egg specific to the Outbreak mode in Black Ops Cold War zombies. This easter egg also has a unique calling card associated with it, for bragging rights, as completing this side easter egg is no easy feat.

To complete this easter egg, you must find a total of ten demented echo zombies while playing the Outbreak game mode. These fiery hot (literally) zombies spawn randomly in each region in a set number of locations. But, only one spawns at each difficulty level. This means if you find one during difficulty level 1, you can only find the next one on difficulty level 2 in whatever your next region is.

These zombies resemble the same fire zombie that was added as a jumpscare in Die Maschine when you successfully complete the floating zombies easter egg.

When you find these zombies, you must keep your distance and approach them slowly, as they will suddenly lunge towards you. If they manage to reach you, they explode, setting you on fire and spawning many regular and elite zombies. You must kill them before they reach you.

Upon successfully killing the demented echo zombie, you will get a "hush" medal. You must get ten "hush" medals to get the "Restful Spirit" calling card as a reward.

This guide shows you all the demented echo zombie locations that we've managed to find so far in each region. There could very well be more than what we've stated below. Feel free to comment below if you find new locations!

The first demented echo zombie can be found in a cabin located at the Old Farm.

The second demented echo zombie can be found in an elevated shack located in the middle of the woods. The specific name of the location is Backwoods.

The third demented echo zombie is found in the office cabin located at the Cargo Platform area.

The fourth demented echo zombie is found inside the Base Headquarters' main building by the Rocky Hillside.

The fifth zombie is found inside one of the tents at the Mobile ICBM Site.

The first demented echo is found inside one of the garages located at the First Aid Station.

The second zombie is found under the Chalet platform.

The third zombie is found inside one of the Base Cabins. It is the far-right cabin, to be specific.

The fourth demented echo zombie location is inside the orange cabin you come across at the Ski Patrol. The zombie will be on the second floor.

The final location is the top-most floor of the main lodge. We couldn't get the zombie to spawn due to the spawns' extreme RNG nature, but the marked location is 100% correct.

The first zombie is found inside of a train cart at the Train Loading area.

The second location is the Church located in the southern part of the Golova region.

Go inside the church and go at the back of the church via the open entrance from either left or right side of the podium section. There will be another narrow path where the demented echo zombie will be.

The third zombie can be found inside a garage located in the Industrial Park area.

The fourth zombie can be found in a sewer tunnel by the Water Runoff.

The fifth location is a green-colored house in the Upper Houses district. You will find the zombie inside the room of this house.

We couldn't get the zombie to spawn, but it will be at the shown location.

The final location where the demented echo zombie will spawn is in the Pack-A-Punch building located in the Upper Town area of the Golova region.

Go to the second floor and turn left. The zombie will be hovering in the corner by the plant as marked below.

The first location is one of the middle Vacation Homes located near the eastern border of the Sanatorium region.

Go to the master bedroom on the first floor to find the demented echo soul.

The second demented echo can be found on Boulder Island near the northern border of the region by the bridge.

The third location is the Bathhouse near the southern border. It also contains a workbench.

You can find the demented soul on the right side of the main bathhouse room.

The fourth soul can be found inside one of the cottages located at the western edge of the region.

The demented echo soul is on the second floor just outside the bedroom door. You can see it halfway on your way upstairs.

The fifth soul is found inside the Sanatorium building.

Go to the first floor of the Sanatorium and from the main hall and take a left (circled in red).

Go through the double doors, and you will find the soul at the end of the long room.

The first demented echo spawn location is at the Listening Post next to the main Base Entrance. This is the same building that also has a Wunderfizz perk machine.

You will find the demented echo on the second floor in the office corner.

The second demented echo spawn location is inside the bunker located at Bunker Hill near the northern border of the Duga region. The Bunker entrance is located just west of the Chemical Processing Plant. The bunker also houses a crafting bench to easily be located using the crafting bench icon on the map.

As soon as you jump down into the bunker, you will find the demented echo flies towards you from the end of the hallway. So, be prepared before jumping down the ladders.

The third demented echo can be found in the southern bunker located by the Base Entrance. This bunker also contains a crafting bench that can help locate the bunker on the map overview.

Like the previous bunker, the demented echo in this bunker will also fly towards you as soon as you jump down the ladders into the bunker. The demented echo soul will be at the end of the hallway.

The fourth demented soul can spawn in the Admin Offices located in the southeastern section of the map.

The demented soul will spawn in the second-floor corridor. Make sure you take the stairs on the right side of the building after entering. This will help you maintain some distance between the soul and yourself to take it out before it reaches you.

The fifth location is at the Bus Depot near the southern edge of the Duga region.

The demented soul is in the ground behind the counter inside the Bus Depot main building. The soul will pop out as soon as you enter the building. You can see the flame reflection on the walls behind the counter that indicates the presence of the demented soul inside.

The sixth demented soul can spawn at the Warehouses.

The demented soul can spawn inside the office of the right (when viewed on the map overview) warehouse.

The final demented echo spawn location is at the Farm located at the western end of the Duga region. The demented echo is found inside the elevated building at the farm.

There is a small hole under the elevated building that you can use to see and kill the demented soul inside the building. If you climb inside the building, you might not have enough time to kill the soul unless you're on a very low round.

The first location is inside one of the exhibits but underground. You can access it through the main Zoo Plaza area.

There is a ladder that leads underground towards the exhibit. You will find the demented echo zombie at the end of the enclosed exhibit when you jump down.

The second location is inside the Aquarium building.

There is an entrance directly to the second floor from the right side of the building. Use the door to head inside.

As soon as you enter, you will see the zombie flying towards you.

The third zombie is found inside one of the Zoo Services exhibits.

The fourth location is the Polar Bear Exhibit.

Head inside the cave exhibit and jump inside the caged exhibit to your right. You will notice the demented echo is in the caged room next to you. As soon as you land inside the zombie will fly towards you.

This positioning gives you enough time to eliminate the zombie. Location #5 The final location is one of the buildings at the Zoo Facilities section.

Open the main door and you will find the zombie right in front of you inside the caged room.

The first spawn location is the service elevator on the lower level of the Helipad Building.

The second location is the Cliffs past the rope you can rappel up with.

The third location is the Cafe in the northeastern section of the region.

The first location is inside the Machine Shop. It is located on the central ship.

In the Main Hall of the southwestern ship.

In the control room of the northeastern ship by the Bridge area.
