Deep Silver unveils Dead Island 2 PC requirements

Almost a decade after its announcement, Dead Island 2 is finally set to launch later this month on all major platforms.

Dead Island 2 will finally arrive this April more than a decade after its predecessor.

Dead Island 2 is finally set to launch this month after several years of development and multiple release date changes. The survival horror action RPG game was originally announced in 2014 with a release date of 2015; however, its development faced many obstacles with several studios hired and removed in the intervening years.

Earlier this year, to the delight of many fans, Deep Silver announced that the title had gone gold and will arrive on April 21, a week earlier than its previous release date of April 28. Now, less than 10 days before the game’s launch, the publisher Deep Silver has revealed the PC specifications required to play it. While the specifications are a bit on the high side, they are necessary for the best possible experience of the survival horror title.

Minimum (1080p 30fps)
The following are the minimum specifications your PC should have in order for you to play Dead Island 2 at 1080p resolution and a frame rate of 30fps:

  • AMD FX-9590 or Intel Core i7-7700HQ
  • 10GB RAM
  • AMD Radeon RX 480 or Nvidia GTX 1060
  • 70GB storage

Recommended (1080p 60fps)
The following are the recommended specifications your PC should have to play Dead Island 2 at 1080p resolution and a frame rate of 60fps:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel Core i9-9900K

  • AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or Nvidia RTX 2070 Super
  • 70GB storage

High (1440p 60fps)
If you wish to play Dead Island 2 at a higher resolution than the above, Deep Silver recommends a PC with the following specifications:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or Intel Core i5-12600KF
  • 16GB RAM
  • AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT or Nvidia RTX 3070
  • 70GB storage

Ultra (4K 60fps)
To play Dead Island 2 at the best possible resolution, you will require a PC with the following specifications or higher:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel Core i7-13700K
  • 16GB RAM
  • AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT or Nvidia RTX 3090
  • 70GB storage
Unlike the other games in the series, Dead Island 2 is set in Los Angeles.

By the way, the PC will also need to run a Windows 10 OS, regardless of whether it meets the requirements for Minimum or for Ultra.

Alongside the PC system requirements, Deep Silver also provided answers to some FAQs. Among other things, the publisher says that the game will support cross-generational play but not cross-platform play. Finally, Deep Silver revealed that the game will have a cooperative multiplayer mode that will support up to three players.

Furthermore, Dead Island 2 will feature a streamer mode devoid of licensed music but for the Cinematic Title Sequence that will play at the very beginning of the game.

Dead Island 2 will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on Friday, April 21.
