It used to be that Dead Island 2 was a running joke within the video game community - a project used as one of plenty of existing examples of games that will never make it out to market.
Fast forward to nearly a decade later, Dead Island 2 is finally coming out.
Ahead of its release, Dambuster Studios' take on the decade-long in-development title lifted its review embargo and critics have divided opinions. But, one thing is clear - if you were expecting Dead Island 2 to be more like its predecessor, you're in for a treat. If not, that's when the disappointment starts.
Check out the review scores of Dead Island 2 below: VGC - 4/5 VG24/7 - 8/10 GameSpot - 7/10 IGN - 7/10 Push Square - 7/10 NME - 3/5 Digital Trends - 3/5 PC Gamer - 55/100 In terms of gameplay, critics claim that Dead Island 2 doesn't do anything unique or better compared to its competition. It also appears to lack a compelling story and the crossplay, or lack thereof, is a problem as well. But, beyond the issues we'd just mentioned, Dead Island 2 has plenty of fun to offer. The pseudo-open-world setting feels immersive if limiting while the satisfying combat makes you feel every whack at your undead opponents.
