Dead Island 2 is finally ready for release after encountering development challenges for almost a decade. The sequel to 2011's Dead Island has gone gold and will be launched earlier than previously announced.

Dambuster Studios has finally finished the development of Dead Island 2. The horror action RPG was delayed several times and had to change developers three times before getting completed. The official Dead Island Twitter account announced that the game has gone gold and provided the new release schedule.

"You asked for it, you got it. Dead Island 2 went gold and it's coming out a week early. See you in HELL-A on April 21, 2023," the announcement reads.

Dead Island 2 was originally announced in 2014 after the success of the original game. Yager Development was the first studio tasked with making the sequel while Techland, the studio behind the first game, focused on developing Dying Light.
