Charlie Cox's characterization of the Marvel Comics character Daredevil on the Netflix series Marvel's Daredevil was lauded by critics and audiences alike, mounting pressure on Marvel Studios to return the actor to the screen following the show's cancellation. In response to this, Marvel Studios is currently producing a new series titled Daredevil: Born Again, and Charlie Cox has revealed his busy filming schedule for 2023.
During a recent interview with NME, the English actor disclosed that his 2023 calendar is essentially booked up by the Marvel project, saying: They said to me, 'We're going to be shooting in 2023', I said, 'Great, when?' They said, 'All 2023'. I start shooting in February and finish in December. The series, which has been described by Cox as a "whole new thing" and not a fourth season of the Netflix series, will see him and Vincent D'Onofrio reprise their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin respectively. With a massive 18-episode first season in development for Disney+, Cox revealed that he has no idea about the story being written for the show, stating: I'm fascinated to discover why they've chosen to do 18 [episodes]. I'm imagining there's going to be an element to it that is like the old-school procedural show. Not necessarily case-of-the-week, but something where we go really deep into Matt Murdock the lawyer and get to see what his life is like. If that's done right and he really gets his hands dirty with that world… I think there's something quite interesting about that, to spend a lot of time in a superhero's day-to-day life and you really earn the moments when he suits up. The Marvel series was watched so many times that Netflix actually released the ratings for the show. Netflix never releases ratings.
