Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania better watch out, because it's facing off against a heavyweight in its third weekend in theaters.
According to Variety, Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut, Creed 3, will gross at least $36 million in North America alone in its opening weekend starting on March 3. This is more than double the original forecast for Marvel Studios' opening salvo for Phase 5, which recently set a franchise-worst record in its second weekend.
In comparison, Creed II only earned $35.5 million at the local box office when it premiered, while the original Creed movie is the "least" successful of the trio with a $29.6 million haul.
It will be interesting to see how much Creed III makes, both at the local and global box office, in its opening weekend as well as throughout its entire theatrical run. Rocky IV is currently the highest-grossing movie in the franchise with a $300 million take when it premiered in 1994.
If Creed III meets expectations, it could take the belt from Rocky IV.
