John Wick: Chapter 4 will be nearly three hours long

John Wick's sequel pattern of "bigger and longer" continues as John Wick: Chapter 4 will be the franchise's longest film yet.

Chad Stahelski revealed last year that John Wick: Chapter 4 will be the franchise's longest movie so far. Now, Stahelski just confirmed how long the upcoming fourth installment in the Keanu Reeves-led series is going to be.

John Wick: Chapter 4 Will Be Nearly Three Hours Long
Several new faces will join John Wick: Chapter 4 in what Keanu Reeves is describing as the series' most action-packed installment yet.

As per an interview with Collider, Stahelski's latest action film will clock in at 2 hours and 49 minutes, including the credits. If you compare it to the previous outings, John Wick 4 will have you holding on to your bladder for a lot longer. John Wick was at 101 minutes long while the sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, told its story in 122 minutes. Finally, John Wick: Chapter 3 was at 131 minutes.

All told, John Wick: Chapter 4 should be more than half an hour longer than the previous installment when it premieres on March 24.

Longer doesn't always mean better but given the ever-expanding cast of each subsequent John Wick sequel, it only makes sense for Stahelski to push the limits of how long audiences can hold out.

For what it's worth, Avengers: Endgame, which ran for 182 minutes, made use of every second to up the ante and set the stage for what's arguably one of the most bad-ass brawls in cinematic history (the only one that might be better is The Siege of Minas Tirith from 2003's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King).

John Wick: Chapter 4 Will Be Nearly Three Hours Long
The fifth John Wick film is going to end up being three hours long at this rate.

Now, we're not saying John Wick: Chapter 4 will feature a massive battle, but its cast more than deserves their moment to shine. Keep in mind that its roster will welcome several new faces like Bill Skarsgård's The Marquis de Gramont, Donnie Yen as Caine, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Shimazu, among many others.

The John Wick franchise's biggest strength has always been Stahelski's masterful ability to show rather than tell. With close to three hours of airtime for John Wick: Chapter 4, the movie will have plenty of opportunities to tell its story when it comes out on March 24.

In the meantime, audiences can look forward to IGN's Fan Fest on February 17 for more John Wick: Chapter 4 footage to cap off Lionsgate's "Wick Week". The week-long festivity has already started with a new poster for John Wick: Chapter 4.
