Following early previews last Saturday, critics took to social media to let us know of their approval of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Now, Charlie Day, who portrayed the titular character's brother Luigi, has expressed his desire to reprise his role in the animated film adaptation of the Mario spin-off video game series, Luigi's Mansion, if it ever happens.
The 47-year-old actor made this known during an interview with ComicBook.com's Brandon Davis.
When the latter enquired about his interest in returning as Luigi in the potential spinoff, Day shared his enthusiasm for the topic and outright stated his desire for the film and role. He said, "Yes I do. Big time. You're not the first [to ask] but let's get that out in the zeitgeist. Let's make this happen, okay? I am in."
Prior to this, Day had initially revealed his interest in a Luigi's Mansion adaptation during an interview with ComicBook in February 2022, when he was yet to be cast for the new Super Mario film. He also confirmed he is familiar with the spinoff when he played the Super Mario Brothers as a kid, as well as through his son who plays the game on his Nintendo Switch.
