Overwatch 2 players who love blaming their teammates for every loss, your days are numbered.
No more pointing fingers at that Hanzo who couldn’t hit a shot or the Mercy who decided to go full-on battle mode. It’s just you, a bunch of bots, and a race against time now.
Blizzard is rolling out the red carpet for Overwatch 2’s anniversary with the introduction of the Hero Mastery mode. This brand-new, single-player, action-packed mode is all about racing through courses, battling training bots, and collecting emblems. The icing on the cake? It’s completely free! So, if you’ve been saving up for that fancy new skin, you can keep those coins in your pocket.
Players will be navigating courses filled with obstacles, jump pads, and a variety of training bots. And these aren’t your grandma’s training bots. We’re talking Rocket Bots that shoot dangerous projectiles, Sniper Bots that are way too good at their job, and Tank Bots that can take some serious hits.
Plus, each hero has unique abilities that can earn you extra points. So, mastering each hero’s skills is crucial if you want to top those leaderboards.
Currently, the mode features courses for Reinhardt, Mercy, and Tracer. But hold onto your hats, as Winston and Sojourn are joining the party later this season. For those achievement hunters out there, mastering all three courses for a hero will net you some sweet rewards, including an exclusive Name Card and Player Icon. Furthermore, players can snag limited-time rewards, including a Weapon Charm, Souvenir, Spray, and Title.
This sounds great and all, but what’s the catch? Well, the Hero Mastery mode will have a limited-time event. Therefore, if you want to prove you’re the best of the best, you better start practicing.
Blizzard will be tracking the top 500 players in each region, so if you’ve ever wanted to flex your solo Overwatch skills, you won’t find a better chance than this.
Besides the new mode, Battle for Catch-A-Mari, Starwatch, and Mischief and Magic modes will return, and heroes such as Zarya, Junker Queen, Orisa, and many more will be getting updates according to the patch notes.
Hero Mastery mode is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam ahead of Overwatch 2’s anniversary on September 19.
