Cyberpunk 2077 has managed to survive a disastrous launch and is gearing up for the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion. CD Projekt Red has recently shared the reason behind having only one planned DLC for the massive game.

The studio announced last year that the upcoming DLC will be the only expansion for the best-selling sci-fi RPG. During the company's recent earnings call, the developer revealed the reason why only one DLC has been planned for the game. According to the studio, its decision to have a single DLC is already set even if the expansion sells well.

"The decision has actually been made," SVP of business development Michał Nowakowski said. "As we have announced a long time ago, we're not going to make a second or third expansion. This is the only expansion of the game, and it has nothing to do with the numbers and how satisfied or not we are with sales or anything of the kind."

He adds, "It's a technological decision to be honest. This is the last time we're working on the Red Engine for the time being at least, and in the foreseeable future as you know we are working on the Unreal Engine from Epic. This was one of the key reasons why we decided this was the only one."
