Activision and Infinity Ward have announced the launch date of Season 5 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone.

Though already overtly hinted at in an earlier teaser, we now have confirmation of when the new content is launching.

Although, we still have little ways to go on regarding what specific content will actually be involved - aside from the new faction, Shadow Company, who will be joining the fray.

Call of Duty: Warzone Season 5 is kicking off on the 5th of August, 2020, as teased in the brief video that also indicated that a loot train feature will be hitting Verdansk. That means you need only wait until Wednesday to jump into all the exciting new content being added to the popular battle royale game.

As for the content of the new season, we still don't know too much. The official Call of Duty Twitter account has been posting a lot about the mysterious new Shadow Company.

The Shadow Company, beyond being an awfully generic name, is an independent private military company that decided to do its own thing in Verdansk after the collapse of Armistice, operating as part of neither the Coalition nor the Allegiance, and taking the fight directly to Mr.Z.

Operators both old and new appear among its ranks, some of whom will likely become playable when Season 5 launches. Their roster includes Roze, Velikan and their leader, Lerch.

Aside from the new faction joining the battle, we have the aforementioned hints at the train coming to life and speeding through Verdansk during matches, as well as a tease that might indicate that the stadium will open its doors.

An iconic landmark of the game map, the stadium has mostly served as a static piece of scenery due to having an inaccessible interior. Sometimes players would make use of it as a sniping position, however if it opens up, it'll finally play a much more central role in the war for Verdansk.
