Blizzard Entertainment and Overwatch 2 just can't seem to catch a break. This time around, the developers have broken the game, endangering its stability.
The latest Overwatch 2 update, which marked the onset of Season 8, has unfortunately tipped this balance, resulting in significant performance issues for PlayStation 5 players. The update, which included the introduction of the newest tank character, Mauga, and other major balance changes, has led to widespread reports of reduced frame rates and overall sluggish performance on the PS5 platform.
Upon the release of Season 8, players quickly took to forums and social media to express their frustrations. The reports from Blizzard's forums and Reddit indicatedthat even basic actions like character rotation now take several seconds, a serious detriment where quick reflexes and smooth gameplay are essential.
Interestingly enough, the problem seems specific to PlayStation 5, as players on the other platforms such as PlayStation 4, have not reported similar issues. This has led some players to resort to playing Overwatch 2 on PS4 consoles to avoid the frame rate problems. The issue is particularly notable given the high expectations for performance on the more powerful PS5 console.
