Fontaine’s treasured celebrity, Furina, the Hydro Archon, has arrived, and it’s clear that the world is her stage, and we’re merely supporting characters in her story. Furina is among the most anticipated characters in Genshin Impact, and given Hoyoverse’s meticulous preparation of her kit, the wait was certainly worthwhile.
Furina is a 5-star hydro sword user who serves as an excellent off-field sub-DPS and Support. With additional constellations, her strength grows, making her suitable for a hypercarry main DPS role. This guide will cover Furina’s kit, best build, artifacts, stats, her best constellations (for those looking to invest heavily), and best team compositions.
Furina’s Kit Simplified
Furina is Fontaine’s most distinctive character, expected to remain unique throughout the 4.X patches as she’s the Hydro Archon. One of the most unique features of Furina is the fact that she can align with both Pneuma and Ousia Arkhes. While other Fontaine characters align with one of these Arkhes, Furina is the only character that can align with both.
This simplifies Fontaine puzzles and boss encounters without needing to switch characters. Pneuma and Ousia energies act as counterparts, much like Yin and Yang, canceling each other out. For instance, if a locked door has a purple orb (Ousia) switch, hitting it with a character aligned with the white energy (Pneuma) will unlock the door. Similarly, non-Fontaine characters can interact with the energy blocks (it can be Pneuma or Ousia, identifiable by their white or purple color) found near these puzzles for players without Fontaine characters.
Furina can change her Arkhe with a charged attack, assuming different roles in Pneuma and Ousia. So, it is essential you understand which state is the best for your team compositions. You can distinguish Furina’s current state by observing her attire. When aligned with Pneuma, her outfit takes on a lighter shade with white shorts. On the other hand, when aligned with Ousia, her clothing becomes darker, and her shorts adopt a darker shade.
Furina’s skill, Salon Solitaire, is the bread and butter of her kit that can serve a different role based on her alignment with either the Pneuma or Ousia state.
When Furina is in her Ousia state, she summons three Salon companions which deal AoE hydro damage based on Furina’s Max HP. These companions target nearby enemies, prioritizing the enemy currently engaged by the active on-field character. When the summoned members attack, their attack’s strength is influenced by the number of characters with over 50% HP, with each such character boosting the attack’s power while consuming their HP.
While in the Pneuma state, Furina’s skill calls upon the Singer of Many Water, who provides healing to nearby active characters, using Furina’s Max HP.
Note that the skill’s duration is mutual for both the Salon Members and the Singer of Many Waters. For instance, if Furina changes her state from Pneuma to Ousia using a charged attack, the summons will switch from Singer of Many Waters to Salon Members. However, the new summons will retain the original duration.
Furina’s burst, “Let the People Rejoice,” inflicts AoE hydro damage based on her Max HP and triggers the Universal Revelry state for nearby party members. Within this state, any change (increase or decrease) in the HP of the party members will result in Furina earning 1 Fanfare point for each percentage change in their Max HP.
As Furina accumulates Fanfare points, she increases the damage dealt and the incoming healing bonuses for all nearby party members, proportional to the quantity of Fanfare acquired. However, once the burst duration finishes, all accumulated Fanfare points will be reset.
As you can tell already, she needs a good team-wide healer on her side to make full use of her Fanfare points and increase party-wide overall damage. More on the healers discussed in the team compositions section below.
Talent Upgrade Priority
Focus on upgrading both her burst and skill equally. Leveling up her burst will provide bigger buffs to the entire party and leveling up her skill will increase her personal damage.
Furina’s Best Constellations
Furina has some of the most broken constellations in the game that can completely change her for you.
Constellation 1
“Love is a Rebellious Bird That None Cane Tame”
This constellation significantly increases the number of Fanfare Furina accumulates, amplifying the buffs derived from her Burst. It also raises the maximum buff capacity on her Burst by 100.
Constellation 2
“A Woman Adapts Like Duckweed in Water”
During the Let the People Rejoice burst, Furina’s gain of Fanfare from changes in the health of nearby characters is multiplied by 250%. For every Fanfare point above the limit, her Max HP increases by 0.35%. The highest Max HP increase she can achieve is up to 140%. This is great for increasing her healing capabilities.
Constellation 3
“My Secret Is Hidden Within Me, No One Will Know My Name”
At constellation level 3, her burst talent level is raised by 3, making the highest possible level 15. This is like any other standard constellation that raises the maximum level of a character’s talent.
Constellation 4
“They Know Not Life, Who Dwelt in the Netherworld Not!”
Whenever Furina’s summoned Salon Members attack an opponent, or the Singer of Many Waters heals the active character, Furina will regain 4 units of Energy. This ability triggers once every 5 seconds. This is a great constellation if you’re looking to improve Furina’s energy requirement issues.
Constellation 5
“His Name I Now Know, It Is…!”
Constellation 4 raises the level of Salon Solitaire by 3, bringing the maximum level to 15.
Constellation 6
“Hear Me — Let Us Raise the Chalice of Love!”
When Furina activates Salon Solitaire, she gets “Center of Attention” for 10 seconds. During this time, her Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, and Plunging Attacks are infused with Hydro damage, and she gains a damage boost equal to 18% of her max HP. Depending on Furina’s Arkhe alignment:
- In Ousia alignment, she heals all party members nearby every second, giving them 4% of her max HP for 2.9 seconds.
- In Pneuma alignment, her attacks get extra damage equal to 25% of her max HP, and hitting opponents will make the party members lose 1% of their current HP.
These effects can trigger up to 6 times during “Center of Attention,” after which the effect ends.
Ideal Stop Point
For those considering investing in her constellations, C2 is an ideal stopping point. The first two constellations are extremely strong for her, but while the rest of the constellations are also good, they are relatively weaker and add more of a quality-of-life improvement.
Furina’s C6 can briefly transform her into an on-field DPS, but this state lasts only a few seconds per rotation (10 seconds if she is an on-field throughout the rotation), making her akin to a quick-swap character as she typically is in most teams. Investing heavily in obtaining her C6 is not deemed worthwhile for the benefits it offers.
Furina’s Best Weapons
Furina’s weapon selection isn’t vast beyond her top-tier signature and an event-exclusive option. Nonetheless, there are alternative choices players can consider.
Splendor of Tranquil Waters
The Splendor of Tranquil Waters is Furina’s best-in-slot signature weapon that gives a boost to every relevant stat that Furina needs. It significantly amplifies her elemental skill damage, among other vital raw stats, including a whopping 88.2% crit damage stat that comes with it.
Festering Desire
Festering Desire stands out as her best F2P weapon, perfectly tailored for Furina. It is an event-exclusive weapon available to Genshin Impact veterans only, as newer players do not have access to past event weapons. Festering Desire (R5) offers a significant boost, increasing Furina’s elemental skill damage by 32% and raising the elemental skill’s critical rate by 12%. This is substantial for Furina, given that her primary damage output originates from her elemental skill.
The Festering Desire also grants a substantial 45.9% energy recharge, effectively addressing any energy-related concerns Furina might encounter.
Primordial Jade Cutter
The Jade Cutter is widely recognized as one of the best 5-star weapons that many Genshin Impact players likely possess. The Jade Cutter assists with Furina’s energy needs, and provides her more HP that helps boost her buffing capabilities.
Key of Khaj
Nilou’s signature 5-star weapon, Key of Khaj, offers a substantial HP increase and boosts elemental mastery.
Light of Foliar Incision
Light of Foliar is mostly a stat stick for Furina as it provides 88.2% crit damage, similar to her signature weapon. The elemental skill damage can increase but is based on 120% of Furina’s elemental mastery. Since we need to focus on getting her as much HP as possible, Furina cannot maximize the full potential that Light of Foliar has to offer.
Fleuve Cendre Ferryman
Another choice is the Fleuve Cendre Ferryman, a Fontaine-exclusive 4-star weapon available through Fontaine’s fishing association. Similar to the Catch polearm, acquiring this weapon will require a considerable amount of fishing. The Fleuve Cendre at R5 increases the elemental skill crit rate by 16% and increases the energy recharge by 32% for 5 seconds after using the elemental skill.
Furina’s Best Artifacts
Furina’s best artifact set is the new Golden Troupe. This artifact set is specifically designed keeping in mind characters that can deal elemental skill damage when off-field. This is great set for Furina as it provides exceptional value to maximize her kit. The 2-piece set bonus increases the wearer’s elemental skill damage by 20%. The 4-piece increases it by an additional 25%. And what’s even crazier is that this increases by an additional 25% if the character is off-field. So, you’re getting a total of 70% elemental skill damage boost.
Stats
The artifact stats can vary depending on what weapon you use for her. But for the most part, you need to focus on acquiring as much HP as possible while retaining the 1:2 ratio on Furina’s crit values.
Start by acquiring at least 50% crit rate and 100% crit damage and then slowly make your way to higher values with at least 65-70% crit rate and 200% crit damage as your end goal.
For the main stats, you can go with the following:
- Sands: HP% or ER%
- Goblet: HP% or Hydro DMG
- Circlet: Crit Rate or Crit Damage
If you haven’t completed a full 4-piece Golden Troupe set, you can mix two-piece sets such as Tenacity of the Millelith (HP +20%), Vourukasha’s Glow (HP +20%), Nymph’s Dream (Hydro DMG +15%), Heart of Depth (Hydro DMG +15%), and Golden Troupe (Elemental Skill DMG +20%). Experiment with combinations to achieve your preferred overall stats.
For the sub stats focus on getting HP%, ER%, Crit Rate, and Crit Damage. Furina’s ER requirements also differ based on how many other Hydro characters are on her team:
- Furina Solo: ~200% ER
- Double Hydro: ~160% ER
- Triple Hydro: ~140% ER
If you have Furina’s C4, it can help reduce the ER requirements by an additional 10-15%.
HP% or Hydro DMG?
The choice between an HP% or Hydro DMG goblet for Furina can be puzzling, and quite competitive. While Hydro DPS characters often prefer Hydro DMG goblets, Furina tends to benefit more from the HP% goblet, offering better overall team-wide damage. Furina already benefits from significant personal Hydro DMG through her passives and other buffs.
Furina’s Best Team Comps
Furina is a versatile character and can fit into various team compositions, including your current hyperbloom or vape teams. The crucial element to focus on is having a team-wide healer. More healing for your characters leads to Furina accumulating more Fanfare points, providing damage buffs to the entire team.
A fundamental Furina team setup typically includes Furina and a strong party-wide healer like Jean, Baizhu, or Sayu. The remaining slots are open for you to fill with characters of your choice.
Here are some examples of the different team comps you can run with Furina:
Neuvillette Team
Neuvillette and Furina form an excellent team because their abilities complement each other. Neuvillette deals significant damage with his charged attack, depleting his HP, which he can quickly restore by collecting healing orbs created by his elemental skill or burst. This consistent HP fluctuation helps Furina accumulate Fanfare stacks, boosting Neuvillette’s charged attack damage.
Including an Electro character on the team enables electro-charged reactions, which significantly boost Neuvillette’s damage output. For this role, consider utilizing an off-field Electro DPS character like Yae Miko or Fischl.
Neuvillette is susceptible to interruptions, making it advantageous to include a character with shield abilities in your team. Zhongli is a top choice for shielding Neuvillette and offers useful debuffing capabilities. However, if you have Baizhu, he can be an effective substitute for Zhongli. Baizhu not only encourages more reactions but also consistently heals and provides a shield that helps mitigate interruption problems. Moreover, Baizhu’s healing abilities accelerate Furina’s accumulation of Fanfare stacks.
Wriothesley Team
Furina and Wriothesley exhibit great synergy owing to Wriothesley’s ability to drain his own HP. When Wriothesley enters his enhanced state through his elemental skill, he consistently loses a set amount of HP with every strike on an opponent. By pairing him with a healer, his health can be restored, enabling the cycle to repeat. This continuous flux in HP supports Furina in accumulating Fanfare stacks for enhanced damage output.
A powerful freeze team can be built around Wriothesley with a healer like Charlotte and an elemental defense shredder like Kazuha with a VV set. You can also replace Kazuha with Jean and Charlotte with Shenhe.
Alhaitham Quickbloom
Another great team comp that can benefit from this is an Alhaitham quick bloom team with Furina, Nahida, and Kuki Shinobu. Kuki will constantly provide healing to an on-field active character, which in this case will be Alhaitham. And Nahida’s skill duration also synergizes well with Furina’s skill duration, making them a great archon combo. You can also switch Xingqui with Furina in the classic Double Hydro Hyperbloom team.
Hu Tao Double Hydro
You could go with a strong vape team that comprises Hu Tao, Yelan, Furina, and Jean. Yelan combined with Furina not only provides hydro resonance for increased max HP but also gives good hydro application for Hu Tao to vape and deal more damage. Furina’s hydro application alone isn’t the most reliable as her summons attack random enemies unless you hit a target and they shift their focus on it. Jean provides team-wide healing that helps Furina get her Fanfare stacks. So you get more attack buffs not only from Furina but also Yelan’s passive called “Adapt With Ease.”
You can equip Jean with a VV artifact set to shred enemies’ elemental resistance.
These are just a few examples of what team comps you can run with Furina. Feel free to mix and match with your favorite characters. As long as you have the right elements, you can make any character work. It is also worth noting that Furina now allows every Genshin Impact character to utilize the Marechaussee Hunter artifact set, not just the Fontain characters.
The 2-piece set bonus increases normal and charged attack damage by 15% and 4-piece set bonus increases the crit rate by 12% for 5 seconds that can stack 3 times (36% crit rate with full stacks). This set was mostly useful on Fontaine characters (such as Neuvillette) as their kits have some way to deplete their HP, making it easier for the 4-piece set bonus to be activated.
Fortunately, with the introduction of the Hydro Archon Furina, every character who wears the Marechaussee Hunter set can benefit from its 4-piece set bonus as Furina drains her team’s HP (and can also heal with her Pneuma aligned skill) to boost their damage.
