Bella Ramsey, who starred as Ellie in the recently concluded HBO television series, The Last of Us, has revealed the release window for the second season of the highly successful video game adaptation.
During an interview on the Jonathan Ross Show on Saturday, Ramsey stated that the follow-up season will premiere in 2 years or less, saying:
It will be a while. I think we'll probably shoot at the end of this year, beginning of next. So it'll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.
Ramsey's words hardly come as a surprise. The Last of Us season 1 was a massive undertaking for HBO, with an 18-month production period and a humongous budget. If the second season takes anywhere as long as the first to produce, Ramsey's estimation sounds accurate but only if production begins this year.
The Last of Us is one of HBO's most successful shows ever both critically and commercially.
