Warner Bros. has flirted with the idea of a solo movie outing for DC's Batgirl for a while already. However, it wasn't until 2017 that development started. Since then, the project has shuffled people in and out. At the moment, Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey and Bumblebee) is confirmed to be on board as the movie's writer with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys for Life) set to direct the film.
With the upcoming superhero film confirmed to air on HBO Max, details have slowly emerged in recent months. Now, the most recent report includes the movie's lead star, Leslie Grace, lobbying for a chance to crossover with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn.
Is Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn going to appear in the Batgirl movie?
Leslie Grace secured the role of Barbara Gordon for Batgirl last July after beating out the likes of Isabela Merced and Haley Lu Richardson for the role. The 26-year-old actress will reportedly be joined by J.K. Simmons, who is rumored to reprise his role as Barbara's father and Gotham Police Department's commissioner, James Gordon.
