The release of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is just a few weeks away, and now we now know how big the game files of the upcoming game will be on the PlayStation consoles, giving fans just enough time to clear some storage space – though luckily it isn’t severe.
According to a report by PlayStationSize, the download size for Armored Core 6 will be 55.669 GB on the PS4 and 43.34 GB on the PS5. It looks like gamers on the Sony consoles will not be forced to delete several games just to accommodate the upcoming FromSoftware title.
While the file size isn’t massive like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it still isn’t small. It would be right up the middle of what most gamers would deem as a reasonable size. The size difference between the platforms is interesting too, and a flip of what one might expect.

Interestingly, the Armored Core 6 will have a smaller download size for PS5. This is likely due to the console’s Kraken compression technology which can reportedly shrink game file sizes by as much as 60% without it carrying any negative side effects.
For comparison, FromSoftware’s multi-awarded action RPG Elden Ring also has a similar file size on Sony’s current-gen console. However, Diablo 4 has a much larger 75 GB while Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to be somewhere in the region of 122 GB when it arrives on the PS5.
Sony’s most recent first-party game Final Fantasy XVI had a download size of 90 GB. The PS5 has an internal SSD of 825 GB, however only 667.2 GB of that is allocated for game files, with the OS and other necessary files taking up the rest.
The smaller file size of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is also likely due to the game not featuring an open-world environment. Open-world games tend to have larger file sizes as much of the environment is populated by assets that make game files bigger.
Armored Core 6 will be using two DRM systems to keep game files safe and multiplayer matches fair between participants. The upcoming title will require both Arxan and Easy Anti-Cheat to be enabled to play the game.
Arxan is very similar in terms of functionality to Denuvo. The DRM acts as an added layer of security preventing unauthorized copying, modification, or use of game files. The system works on top of the protection mechanisms added by the developers, in this case, Easy Anti-Cheat.
Epic Games’ Easy Anti-Cheat is a middleware that detects and counters hacking and cheating in multiplayer games. Armored Core 6 features a six-player competitive multiplayer mode where teams compete in 3v3 matches, with three additional spectator slots. Easy Anti-Cheat will ensure that multiplayer matches will be safe from cheating.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on August 25, 2023.
