Amazon Studios has already identified several MGM titles due for a reboot and the list includes RoboCop, Stargate, Pink Panther, The Thomas Crown Affair, Barbershop, Legally Blonde, The Magnificent Seven, and Fame.
This report is courtesy of Deadline and follows an earlier announcement that the studio has a first-look deal with Sylvester Stallone and his production company for television and feature film projects in the Rocky universe. Both reports trail the revelation that Amazon Studios has plans for a Creed universe helmed by Creed star and director Michael B. Jordan.
Since the studio has only selected these projects, it's yet to decide which filmmaker will helm the projects. The same report states that some "A-list creative auspices have reached out" to the studio to inquire about projects they are interested in adapting for the screen. The company is also reportedly looking to assign some of the projects to its in-house talents.
Even though Amazon plans to develop the bulk of the IPs as either television series or feature films, the studio has big plans for some select titles – Legally Blonde, Stargate, and RoboCop – and intends to order both film and television series adaptations for them. For Stargate, the plan is to start the franchise with a movie before the release of the television series. However, RoboCop will begin with a show with the film to come after.
