For some reason, Call of Duty: Vanguard players just woke up with 5,000 free CoD points in their accounts after the April 27 update.

CoD Points are the in-game currency players use to buy cosmetics in the Call of Duty store. Following the game's major Season 3 update, players are reporting free CoD points in their accounts all of a sudden. Mind you, 5,000 CoD points are worth roughly around $39.99 / £34.99, which is not a small thing. If it's an error, then Activision just made a big one and it will be interesting to see what kind of backlash awaits once the controversial publisher starts rolling back the CoD points that it had given away.

For what it's worth, some users are suggesting that the 5,000 CoD Points are a reward and not free. One, in particular, reports that they received the CoD points after completing all the Season 3 Zombies challenges.

Activision still hasn't issued an official statement regarding the free CoD points. If nothing else, those who got their share most likely have spent them already. But, word of caution, try not to get to have your hopes too high up.
