2022 was a big year for animated video game adaptations. One of the noteworthy animated shows this past year was Cyberpunk Edgerunner, helping Cyberpunk 2077 regain a chunk of its lost player base. Another popular video game series looks to follow in the footsteps of Cyberpunk 2077 with its own anime adaptation.
Platinum Games' Nier: Automata will be getting an anime adaptation this coming new year titled Nier: Automata Ver1.1a. The upcoming animated series has a new trailer showcasing its protagonists 2B and 9S. The trailer also reveals the release date for Nier: Automata Ver1.1a.
Based on the trailer, the anime looks to be a faithful adaptation of the storyline of Nier: Automata. However, the game has 26 different endings and we won't know until the season or series finale which one is going to be used in anime. We doubt that the animated series will use the 26th secret ending which was discovered three years and ten months after the game was released. The series may throw a curve ball and create its own unique ending which would be fitting for Nier: Automata.
