Street Fighter 6’s recent collaboration with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might have been a miss after the grossly expensive skins failed to take with gamers, but we’re wagering the upcoming DLC character will make a smooth landing next month.
A.K.I., the poison-wielding apprentice of F.A.N.G will make her much-awaited debut in Street Fighter 6 on September 27. After getting a sneak peek at EVO 2023, gamers now have an insight into the newcomer’s abilities through Capcom’s gameplay trailer.
Just by the first few minutes, we can already deduce that Juri Han’s sadistic tendencies pale in comparison to A.K.I. The psychopathic Kenpo fighter wields a pair of metal gauntlets on each hand with sharp claws that she uses to effectively incapacitate her opponents with poison-infused strikes.
Check out her move list below:
- Serpent Lash – A.K.I. hurls her nails like a chain from a distance, poisoning her foes. Hitting a poisoned enemy sets off a Toxic Blossom, causing an explosion and setting the stage for follow-up attacks.
- Nightshade Pulse – A.K.I. propels a toxic bubble forward, which poisons enemies upon impact. She can hit the bubble with the Nightshade Chaser to burst it prematurely, expanding its impact zone.
- Orchid Spring – A.K.I. strategically sets a poison puddle on the ground, which inflicts damage on any foes entering its bounds.
- Sinister Slide – Glide across the stage, sidestepping dangers as you advance and execute successive attacks such as Venomous Fang to leap forward and poison an opponent, Heel Strike to perform a chain of combos on a successful hit, or Entrapment to coil around an enemy’s body and squeeze them like a Boa constrictor.
A.K.I. will be the second DLC character in Street Fighter 6, following the addition of her arch-nemesis Rashid to the roster last month. Her debut also marks the second female fighter hailing from China, following fan-favorite Chun-Li.
Capcom will be releasing more DLC characters in the coming months, including Bandaged Boy Ed, the Psycho Boxing protege of Balrog, and Akuma, Gouken’s younger brother and one of the most popular characters in the franchise.
If you’re itching to get your hands on the poison connoisseur, you can unlock her if you own the Year 1 Character Pass, Deluxe Edition, or Ultimate Edition. Alternatively, you can try her out for an hour with a Rental Fighter ticket, which can be acquired with a Fighting Pass.
The A.K.I. Arrives! Fighting Pass, which contains various cosmetic items that can be used in players’ custom avatars, will be available starting tomorrow.
