Zack Snyder scores a big win with Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire on Netflix. The sci-fi action-adventure is a certified hit on the platform, becoming the #1 watched Netflix movie in the world.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire, debuted to a limited theatrical release. Touted as Zack Snyder's unfulfilled project for a Star Wars pitch, critical reviews were generally unkind towards the burgeoning space opera franchise. But it seems auteur filmmaker Zack Snyder is getting the last laugh, as the first installment of Rebel Moon is garnering huge viewership on Netflix.

According to Netflix, the science fantasy film raked in 23.9 million views on its debut on the streaming service on December 21.

Director Zack Snyder, who also wrote the screenplay and produced the two Rebel Moon movies, shared the good news on his social media such as X.com (formerly known as Twitter).

The story of Rebel Moon is set in a galaxy ruled by Motherworld with its Imperium army enforcing their grip. But a small band of heroes fight to make a difference. Is it too close to Star Wars?
